What would it take for the construction industry to go green?

In a world where most countries recognise economic growth as a primary measure of national progress, is the construction industry solely motivated by the allure of earning top dollar?

Ethical business must eventually include minimising the carbon footprint. We must begin exploring alternatives, otherwise someday we will realise that we have fully depleted earth’s resources and have nothing left to fall back upon.

While the construction industry is rapidly embracing new technology (such as Komatsu ordering a thousand drones from drone leader DJI), stop and consider how we can try to harness green electricity, and utilise environmentally-friendly materials for our structures, and so on.

New innovations do not necessarily have to increase profits, they can also increase the longevity of our resources in the long-run.

What is your stand on this? What are the challenges you face in exploring (or coming up with) new technology?
